MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – January 29, 2018 5:00 PM

Lester was looking for authorization from the Board of Selectmen to allow the Tunxis Club to make repairs to Ames Case Rd/Blandford Rd. Tunxis would supply road materials, culverts and tree removal if necessary. Tolland DPW crew would be asked to spread the materials. Tunxis would like to log property and would need the road conditions to be better to support the activity. Selectmen Steve moved to authorize the project, seconded by Patrick. The motion carried unanimously.
Ted informed the board that the Finance Committee would like to get a start on a “Capital Plan”. The Finance Committee has also scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, February 14th to start reviewing the FY19 budgets. Eric stated that a discussion was had at the last Selectmen’s meeting discussing town employee’s salaries and that he would like the Finance Committee to look into salaries. Ted was aware of the conversation and felt that giving the employees a percentage increase across the board was fair unless the Selectboard felt they had an exceptional employee that they wanted to increase additionally. Salaries will continue to be looked at.
Kevin stated that Frontier is still willing to work with the towns of Sandisfield and Tolland. Kevin spoke with Frontier last Wednesday and was told that a reconfigured contract is moving within Frontier. In the meantime other providers will be schedule to meet with the Board of Selectmen and committee. Also, the Board of Selectmen will be meeting with Peter Larkin of MBI.
